Hello and welcome to the Altenew 7th Anniversary Blog Hop! Let me begin by saying CONGRATULATIONS to Altenew for achieving 7 amazing years and becoming a true leader in the paper crafting industry!! They continue to create beautiful and innovative products that excite and inspire, they teach and nurture creativity for every level of artist, from beginner to expert. I’m so proud to be a part of this company and this event!

This is Day 3 of a 4 day hop full of amazing participants, beautiful projects and whew! prizes!! If you’re following on the hop, you should be arriving from My Little Attic’s blog but if not you can click back to the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Blog.

If you ask me to make a card using any products and mediums of my choosing it will probably be a watercolored floral card! I never get tired of that.

For this card I busted out the watercolor 24 Pan Paints and the 36 Pan set as well. I chose one of the “no line” images in the Altenew Watercolor Coloring Book and had a good little play.

I began by layering pale shades of the colors I liked, let those dry and went back and added darker hues in the shaded areas. I love the new (recently released) Detail Watercolor Brushes for this kind of painting because they hold a nice amount of water and let your paint very fine lines and small details.

I created the background gray shades by mixing up leftover paint colors in the lid of my paint set and adding some black to tone it down. Then LOTS of water and just let the shades blend and dry as they choose. Once dry, I added black paint speckles.

I used the Build-A-Flower: Primrose stamp set to create the greeting, combining 3 different stamps to say “have an amazing birthday”. I love the combination of fonts in this set!

Your next stop on the hop is Michelle Short’s blog, but before you go, be sure and take note of the free shipping promo that Altenew is currently running as well as the list of sponsors and prizes! Should you encounter a broken link while hopping, there is a complete hop list at the end of this post.
