Hello, hi! I’m delighted to be part of the Altenew blog hop today, showcasing the release of the Gradient Cardstock line! If you use Altenew inks (and if you don’t, you should) or alcohol markers, you’ll be aware of the magic of their color families. Four shades (some have three) of each color that make stamping with the layering stamps a beautiful and easy thing! Now Altenew has expanded the color family line to include cardstock papers for use with (but not limited to – be sure to check out Jaycee’s projects!) the Altenew layering dies!!
For my cards today, I did plenty of layering, starting with some ink-tinted embossing paste and the Beveled Squares Stencil. Then I cut a variety of leaves using the Layered Rose, Garden Picks 3D and Rose Flurries 3D Dies sets and I die cut the large bloom from the Layered Rose Die.
There are 6 color families of Gradient Cardstocks in this release and I used both the Green Meadows and Sea Shore families for the leaves, and I cut blooms using the Cherry Blossom, Red Cosmos and Summer Afternoon cardstock sets. I plan to use the final color family, Shades of Purple on another project.
The card above uses a bloom made from Red Cosmos. I stamped a sentiment from the Winter Cardinal stamp set, stamping on grey cardstock and white heat embossing.
My second card is very similar to the first except for the sentiment and the color of the bloom. This time I used the three lightest colors in the Summer Afternoon cardstock set. The “happy birthday” sentiment is from the Dotted Blooms stamp set.
I love the mix of bright green and blue/green leaves and I especially love how the gradient cardstocks take all the guesswork out of building florals and leaves with the 3D die sets!
I created a 3rd flower, (pictured above) from the Cherry Blossom gradient cardstock, although I didn’t use it on a card today. Another nice thing about the color families comprised of 4 shades, is that many of the flowers and leaves use just three layers of die cut pieces to layer up, which means you can create a greater variety of color tones by combining flowers made of the lightest three shades or the darkest three shades, and they still match!
