I have two cards today, both made using the Hibiscus Blooms stamp set, but each done with a different medium on different paper. The first is stamped on watercolor cardstock and watercolor painted.

The stamp set contains one complete hibiscus branch plus individual blooms, leaves and two humming birds and I used the flower cluster stamp to start, added a couple of leaves extra and the humming birds.

I painted with Mijello Mission Gold watercolor paints, including a blue background, then stamped a greeting from the Hibiscus Blooms stamp set, with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat set with clear embossing powder. To finish the card, I added some black enamel dots.

Next up, is a slimline card with the basic Hibiscus branch for the base, but this time I did some masking so I could add more blooms extending higher, and extra leaves as well. I just hand drew some stems so the blooms wouldn’t look like they were hovering in space!

This time, I stamped onto Neenah Solar White cardstock with Copic friendly Intense Black ink and colored the image with Copic markers, using a light hand and referencing photos on the internet for a color guide.

Once again, the sentiment comes from the Hibiscus Blooms stamp set and is heat embossed for extra impact. I used some clear flat sequins to add some interest and sparkle. I also got to try the new SSS Dot Runner adhesive, a dandy adhesive (temporary initially, and permanent after a few minutes), that will happily replace the hard-to-source brand I’ve been using.
