Hi, hello! I’m excited to be here today with some cards to help showcase the Simon Says Stamp February Hello Beautiful release today! With delays in shipping these days, I don’t always get to join the team on release day, so it’s extra exciting when I can!

This month I got to play with the Spring Birds stamp set. Typically, I love to create more elaborate scenes, but the time crunch this time meant keeping it clean and simple. As well, I’ve been away from my craft desk for the last 4 weeks, so doing some Copic coloring was a fun way to dip the toes back into the card-making pool! I often find after a creative break that I can’t quite remember what I’m meant to be doing? Does that ever happen to you?
This sweet stamp set has 5 different birds to choose from (and being fair-minded, I had to use them all), a leafy branch, plus 10 different Spring-related sentiments.
I used some patterned paper from the Honey Bee Birthday Bash paper pad, die cut a stitched hole in the center with the Simon Says Stitched Circles dies and embellished with some matching enamel hearts from Doodlebug Design Rainbow Hearts. For the blue bird I colored with BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, W4, W2 and W3. The red bird is colored with R27, R17, R14 and R12. The leaves and branches on all the cards are colored with YG17, YG23, E44 and E43.
For card #2, I kept things a little more muted, combining grays and tans in a sort of Chickadee-fashion. For all of the cards, I stamped the birds onto masking paper and cut them out in order to stamp the birds first, and then the branch with the masks in place to make the tails and feet sit properly. I colored this bird with E43, E42, E41, T8, T6, T5, T3 and T2.
I used one of the sentiments in the Spring Birds stamp set, and combined it with a sentiment (your news) from the SSS So Far, So Good stamp set, adding a little exclamation mark by hand.
I die cut the stamped and colored panel with the SSS Stitched Rectangles dies, matted it with some coordinating green cardstock and wrapped the bottom with thin jute twine before adhering it to some wood grained patterned paper from the Moda Scrap Wood Effect paper pack.
For the last card, I looked at some bird clipart for color inspiration then went a little wild! I used B29, B24, B21, Y17, Y15, Y13, B2, BG01, YG01, G715 (Altenew), YG25, YG03 and YG01 for the tropical bird, and R29, R17, R14, R12, E19, E15, E11, T8, T6, T5 and T3 for the bird of unknown species.
For this card I used the sentiments from the CZDesigns Clean Line Gratitude stamp set. I cropped the stamped panel with the stitched rectangle dies again, in order to let more of that crazily appropriate patterned paper to show! When I bought that paper pad, (Honey Bee Harvest Festival) this was one of the papers in there that I thought, “well I’m not sure when I’ll ever use that one!” and here we are!
