Here she is! Isn’t she a beaut!? I did something a little different for this die cut layered flower today. Usually, I go through my paper scraps and collections and agonize over matching shades and don’t always end up being happy with my choices.
This time, I die cut all the pieces from 80lb white cardstock and grabbed a color family of Altenew Artist Markers and colored all the pieces! In this case, it was Red Sunset Artist markers for the bloom and the Tropical Forest marker set for the leaves. Once again, I’d like to point out the magic of the Altenew color family system and the way it takes away all the uncertainty of color matching!
For the layered leaves it was a simple matter of coloring the pieces in the appropriate shades, but then for the single leaf cluster with no layering, I could color with shading and highlighting as I liked.
For the card front, I painted pale blue stripes, wide and narrow, onto an A2 sized watercolor card panel. I positioned my floral arrangement temporarily, and eyeballed about where I wanted to stamp some additional leaves behind the flower bloom. I used the Beauty Within stamp set to stamp those leaves with Olive Crisp Dye ink and then permanently adhered the layered flower and leaves onto the background. I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set onto dark navy cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder.
