Hello, hi! I’m happy to be joining the Altenew Gardens Around the World blog hop today where we are showcasing the latest release of stamps, dies and more. You should be arriving here from Nenette Madero’s blog, but if not you can simply click back to the beginning of the hop at the Altenew Card Blog. First up, is my card made using the Midsummer Bouquet stamp set. The set consists of a single large double floral bouquet and 7 accompanying sentiment stamps. I stamped the outline image onto white Neenah cardstock with Permanent Black ink and used Altenew Artist Markers to color it in.
I used a fun “comic-book” style of coloring – a technique I love to do when I don’t have the time or desire to spend a lot of time carefully shading with alcohol based pens. It’s a simple method of using at least 3 distinct shades of a color to fill in the outline sections, leaving the visible lines that define the color zones and not worrying about blending the shades at all.
I used the following markers to color the image:
R21 – Vineyard Berry, R107 – Heartbeat, R105 – Coral Bliss, C009 – Pink Pearl
R318 – Ruby Red, R304 – Coral Berry, R302 – Frosty Pink
C012 – Yellow Ochre, Y205 – Warm Sunshine, C001 – Buttercream
G554 – Evergreen, G715 – Forest Glades, G70s Frayed Leaf
B201 – Sea Glass (background)
To give the colored image a feeling of completeness, I added a geometric shaped colored background. I lightly penciled the four corners to create a trapezoid and filled in the shape with pale blue marker.
I used another of the stamp sets being released today – the Castle Garden Outline Stamp Set to create the “thinking of you” sentiment, stamping on white cardstock with Obsidian Pigment ink and heat setting with clear embossing powder, then trimming into a narrow strip and popping up with Instant Dimension foam tape. For even more dimension, I popped up the stamped and colored panel with more dimensional foam tape before adhering everything to a folded card base.
Next up is a super fun and simple card to make – one that can be stamped with all of the outline leaf stamps in the Leaf Canopy set, or with just the single outline stamp in the Leaf Canopy Add-on set.
It doesn’t matter which order you stamp in – outline or solid first – but I stamped first with the outline stamp. Then I went back and purposely stamped outside the outlines with all the palest shades of blue/green inks in the Altenew color families.
Inks used include: Limeade, Frayed Leaf, Lemon Ice, Sea Glass and Mint Choc.
I used the largest of the Fine Liner pens to add a random pattern of black polka dots in the background.
I stamped another outline leaf image on a piece of scrap cardstock, and stamped the filler stamp with Forest Glades ink, keeping the filler inside the outlines, then used the coordinating die to cut it out, plus another die cut of fun foam. I stacked and adhered them to the card front with a layer of black thread below.
I used the Castle Garden stamp set again to stamp the sentiment, again inking with Obsidian Pigment ink and heat setting with clear embossing powder. I glued the middle of the sentiment strip to the layered leaf die cut, then supported the ends with more foam tape.
