Hello friends! Today is the Altenew April Release Hop and we have some wonderful new designs to share with you! If you’ve arrived here from Kelly Janes’s blog all is well, but if not, you can start back at the Altenew Card blog and not miss a thing!
This month I got to work with the Rose Spray stamp set and the Fancy Hello word die. These layered stamps are very precise and easy to work with and I kept my projects very simple to allow the images to really shine.
For these two almost identical cards, I was messing around with the inking. Both cards use the colors in the Tea Party ink set; Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss and Heart Beat, double inking the mid-tone Coral Bliss Layer for the card on the left. The other subtle difference between the two (how many differences can you find??) is in the masking of the top bloom. On one card I stamped the bloom overtop the leaves by masking the bloom, and on the other I let the top leaf overlap the petal of the bloom.
I used the green inks in the Green Fields ink set; Frayed Leaf, Forest Glade and Evergreen and I love the vintage look of the marriage of the two sets.
The sentiment “holding you in my heart” is from the Cherished Memories stamp set, and the “birthday wishes” sentiment is from the Stained Glass Window stamp set. Both cards are finished off with a few coordinating enamel dots.
For the third card, I used the mini flower branch spray, in the same shades of ink as the cards above. The Laura Ashley sweetness of this card just kills me! Because I was stamping the layers separately, and I didn’t want any blooms to run into each other, I used the coordinating Rose Spray dies to die cut several of the small branch images and arranged them on the card panel to give me an idea of placement and direction for the stamped images.
To make the coordinating piece of patterned paper, I stamped with the Pinstripe stamp set and the Forest Glade ink. I die cut the Fancy Hello word 3 times from pink cardstock along with a strip for the stamped, heat embossed sentiment. I layered the word die cuts together, cutting off a portion off the bottom layer die cut so it would sit snugly on top of the sentiment strip without causing a weird layer-bump.
One more thin strip of green card stock to balance the sentiment strip, a few matching enamel dots and this card is complete.
This paper pack is a lovely mix of crisp reds and navy, with a splash of mint green, spring yellow and grey. All together it’s going to be very versatile. I matched up three of the colors and patterns in the pack, then die cut the hello from navy cardstock and two sprigs from the Create-A-Wreath dies from red cardstock. The “oh,” sentiment portion is from the Halftone Hello stamp set once again. I arranged all the card stock components and glued them together. Next I adhered all that onto a piece of vellum paper, then hand cut around the whole design to create a design element that doesn’t get lost in the busy background patterns.
