I have a couple of cards to share with you today that feature four of the die sets in this release; the Floral Doodles Die set, Just Leaves Die set, Scalloped Scallops Die set and the Layered Wood Flower Die set.
For my first card, I combined the Layered Wood Flower Die set with the Just Leaves Die set, and the Creative Edges: Scalloped Scallops Die set.
I combined techniques as well for this card, die cutting the leaves from a sheet of watercolor paper that I had previously painted and paint-smooshed and filed in my stash. It was the color combo of the pale green watercolored leaves with the Sugarplums ink colors I used to ink blend on the Wood Flower die cuts that really rang my bell!
I used the darkest shades in the Rock Collection inks to ink blend the flower center layers. Once the leaves and flower were all layered and glued together, I die cut some white cardstock with the two dies in the Scalloped Scallops set, cutting the bottom edge first, then running the paper through again with the picot holes. I used a sentiment from the Just Jasmine Stamp set, stamping directly onto some subtly plaid patterned paper that compliments but doesn’t distract from the lovely floral die cut.
For my next card, I combined the Floral Doodles Dies with leaves from the Layered Wood Flower Dies set. I like the unexpected but interesting effect of mixing florals and leaves from different Altenew sets and I think that this one in particular works really nicely together!
The steps for this card assembly are super simple, die cutting the background layers for the flowers from white cardstock, and the outline layers from grey cardstock and adhering them together.
I want to try other combinations for the background layer, like vellum, tinting the vellum, and watercolor paper. Next time.
The leaf layers are ink blended with colors from the Green Fields and Tropical Forest ink sets.
I stamped a sentiment from the Leaf Canopy stamp set with Obsidian Pigment ink onto plum colored cardstock and heat embossing with clear embossing powder. Why did I choose that lone pop of color? Well, firstly, because the overall card design needed something interesting and secondly, because I knew I’d be photographing the cards together and a similar color scheme would be more visually pleasing. No reason more “artistic” than that! I then added a few enamel dots to help carry the pink sentiment strip color, and I think it works!
Before I let you go, I want to tell you about a couple of new products that Altenew is releasing!
