Hi, hello! I’m back today with another Mini Delight subscription stamp and die release to share! This is not a blog hop – the hop is actually going on over at Instagram, but I wanted to make sure that if you’re not on Instagram, you didn’t miss out on seeing this here!
The monthly Mini Delight sets are always cute! They are delightful wee sets with big impact! And this month it’s a cactus! Be still my sun-baked, Arizona-loving heart!
To create this card, I began by stamping the cactus outlines and layers on Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. After stamping the pot (and flower) with black ink, then covering it (the pot) with a stamped and hand-cut mask, I used Frayed Leaf and Moss green Crisp Dye Inks to stamp the cactus barrel so it appears to be sitting in the pot. To make sure everything lined up just right, I first die cut several potted cacti images, then positioned the stamps on the die cuts. It’s a backwards way of working that prevents you from spending all your time creating a beautiful stamped image and then wrecking it when the die doesn’t line up perfectly.
With a fine tipped multiliner pen, I added the top line of the pot as well as some x’s to look like cactus needles. I decided to leave the pot and flower uncolored for a cool and modern graphic vibe.
I die cut the tag from Neenah Desert Storm kraft cardstock using the Terrific Tags Die set and stamped the sentiment from the Mini Delight set on it. I adhered the cactus to the tag, tied some black and white baker’s twine in the hole and adhered that to the white card panel.
Oh wait! That textured card panel! I used the Trellis stencil and the rubber mat and embossing sandwich for the Sizzix die cutting machine and embossed the design into my 110 lb cardstock. Such a fun way to stretch your supplies and make your stencils do much more than simple stenciling!
