Hey, hi friends! Did you see all the wonderful products released last week at Simon Says Stamp? I want to share a few more cards that I made with the sweet Mother’s Day watercolor designs from Suzy Plantamura and Simon Says Stamp.
These pretty designs are printed on Ranger watercolor paper, a lovely bright, white watercolor cardstock and I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils to color the designs before painting them with a wet paint brush.
I’m just going to post a bunch of photos without a lot of words since there are really no techniques to share. Basic coloring, nice and relaxed, then you come back with a wet brush and activate the pigment and let the water and the paper do the work. On larger images I like to incorporate multiple colors on a leaf or petal, but for small blooms I find a single color blended from light to dark is often enough.
Occasionally, if I would like to introduce another color to a petal, I will draw a line in the shadow part of the petal with the first color, then use the wet paint brush to brush the tip of another pencil tip and use that to paint the petal, and where the two colors meet, a beautiful blend can happen. Do I need to make a video demonstrating this? I probably do, don’t I.
Several of the designs in this set have sentiments printed on them, but a few also have an open area where you can add your own, so for my last card I added some stamping and a die cut.
The “miss you” die cut is the CZdesigns Miss You die, the “friend” stamp is from the Be Kind stamp set, and the “my sweet” sentiment is from the Hello You stamp set.
I had a lovely relaxing time coloring and then painting these card panels and once finished, I simply cropped them slightly to mat them with a coordinating color of cardstock and let that be sufficient.
A selection of these printed card designs, a small bundle of watercolor pencils and brush or a travel watercolor palette makes an easy “on the go” kit. I’ve taken them to work on in airports (remember AIRPORTS??) or in the car, or when visiting friends (remember visiting friends???).
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a really good day!
