Hello, hi! I’m delighted to participate today in the Altenew blog hop celebrating the release of stand alone dies. You should have arrived here from the Altenew Scrapbook Blog, and if not, you can click back to the beginning at the Altenew Card Blog and not miss anything.
I absolutely LOVE the Virginia Rose 3D die set that I used to create this card, and the Nesting Labels die set in the background is one that I will be using again on so many other projects!
I began this project by painting on some watercolor paper with the Altenew Watercolor Paint pans. I also raided my stash of stand-by’s, left-overs and cast-offs to find other pieces of watercolor practice sheets from projects past, and added more paint to them. Some card panels I painted in shades of green, and others I painted pink, coral, yellow, red and purple. I tried to create areas of different color intensities so that I could cut the bottom layer from the lightest shade and each subsequent layer from watercolor paper with gradually more and more color intensity.
Once dry, I die cut all the pieces of the leaves and the blooms. I’m sharing just this one card today, but I now have a stockpile of watercolored leaves and blooms that mean you are bound to be seeing more of these again soon!
On an A2 sized card panel of watercolor paper, I painted a pale aqua colored background, speckled it with more paint and let it dry. Then I die cut the label using the 2nd largest die in the Nesting Labels die set. I popped up the interior die cut with foam tape and used the outside die cut shape to ensure that the label portion was placed in exactly the right spot.
I stamped the sentiment from the Fancy Greetings stamp set onto the label, and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
With the various flower layers all adhered together, I grouped some leaves, a large bloom and a small bud into a pleasing arrangement on the lower right corner of the label die and adhered everything in place.
