Hi friends! I’m joining Altenew again today for the October Build-a-Flower: Lavender release. It’s a lovely one again! You should have arrived here from Kelly’s blog, but if not, be sure to click back to the start at the Altenew Card Blog so that you don’t miss anything.
As always, the Build-A-Flower stamp set is a layered set. And I did layer my image today, although it’s hard to see the distinctive layers because of the technique I used for this card.
I wanted a wispy, undefined quality to my image so I began by coloring the layers with waterbased markers (I used Tombow and Tim Holtz Distress markers), then spritzing the stamp very lightly before stamping down onto watercolor paper. I let the stamp sit on the paper for a few seconds before lifting up.
I stamped each layer in this manner with a variety of purple and blue markers for the bloom and greens for the stem/leaves, and when all the layers were complete, I misted the paper again, focusing the spray where I particularly wanted the color to spread.
I used one of the sentiments in the Build-A-Flower: Lavender stamp set to stamp and heat emboss with Platinum embossing powder. I also splattered on water droplets to capture more platinum embossing powder and heat embossed that as well. I rounded one corner and matted the watercolored card panel with a coordinating shade of blue cardstock and adhered it to a card base.
