I made two cards using the Cora Louise Peony stamp and die set (although I didn’t use the dies this time for either card); one made using the layering stamps and the new Northern Shore ink color family, and the second card stamped with black permanent ink and colored with Altenew Artist Markers.

For my first card, I began by stamping with Arctic Mountain, the darkest shade of ink in the Northern Shores ink set. Then I filled in all the layers of colors using the three lighter shades of the ink family.

Once the peony images were stamped and colored, I used the large blending tool to blend the lightest ink color – Polar Bear ink – over the whole card panel. For the sentiment, I die cut a label using the Apothecary Label dies and blended the next shade of blue ink – Icy Water – on it so it would perfectly match the rest of the card. I waited until the blended ink was fully dry, then stamped a greeting using two of the sentiment stamps in the Peony stamp set, and heat set it with gold embossing powder.

I popped up the label die cut with some fun foam on the back and adhered it to the card panel over a little spiral-nest of gold thread. I trimmed the A2 card panel slightly smaller on all four sides and created a perfectly color-matched mat by ink blending the edges of a folded card base with the Arctic Mountain ink.

For the second card, I stamped the same images in the same positions as the card above, but used Permanent Black ink – an alcohol friendly ink – to stamp the outlines.

I used the Shades of Purple marker set for one flower, the Rose Petal marker set for the second flower and the Glacier Caves marker set for the third flower. The leaves are all done with a combination of greens in the Tropical Forest and Green Fields marker sets.

The greeting for this card is another stamp combination from the BAF: Peony stamp set, and this time is stamped on black cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Both cards are fairly simple to execute, and require little in the way of extra embellishment because of the striking Peony designs. I know this will be a stamp set I reach for again and again!
