Altenew Build-A-Flower: Canterbury Bells Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there friends, I’m joining Altenew today for the March Build-A-Flower: Canterbury Bells Release Blog Hop and I can’t wait to show you this pretty, PRETTY layered stamp and die set! The Build-A-Flower series is also a subscription and signing up for it will guarantee a new and beautiful flower stamp and die set in your mailbox every month at special reduced price of $29.99 from $35.

You should be arriving here from the Altenew Card Blog where all the fun begins! Continue reading to the end of this post for information about how you can enter to win an Altenew giveaway!

I wanted to make a card that is reminiscent of wildflowers growing along a fence line, coming up through the slats all willy-nilly-like, so I used the Watercolor Stripes Cover Die to die cut a white cardstock panel that replicates the fence lines.

It’s really just the suggestion of fence boards obviously, but my brain likes it so I’m calling it a win! I stamped three images of the Canterbury Bells and filled in the layers with the color families of Glacier Caves, Enchanted Garden and Cherry Blossom.

I die cut each image with the included coordinating die, tucked the purple and blue flower stems in behind the “fence”, then die cut 3 more layers of cardstock to stack up behind the pink stem which I adhered in front, to create the visual dimension that supports the impression of wildflowers and rail fences. In Kentucky probably. Rolling hills and tidy horse farms trimmed with white post-and-rail fences and wild Canter-(what racehorses do!)-bury Bells growing profusely! You can see it too, right?

I used a sentiment from the BAF: Canterbury Bells stamp set and stamped with Obsidian Black Ink, then layered the white die cut cardstock over a piece of blue textured cardstock. I covered the flowers and splattered the background with black paint speckles and let them dry before adhering all the layers to a card base.

I left the edges of the blue flower to hang off the right hand side which will require either a custom sized envelop to accommodate the card, or I may trim the edge to fit a standard A2 envelope! We’ll see.
